One thing Goode, which got its start building carbon-fiber water skis, has always known how to do is build a super light ski. So for backcountry skiers, this company should be on the radar. The Pyramids have the same sidecut and powder-hungry 128-mm waist as the Kachina, but their cores are 25 percent lighter, thanks to a special foam core stitched with Kevlar to give it the responsiveness and performance usually found in wood-core skis. It employs Goode's Strong Rocker profile aggressive bend at the tip and tail to make the ski buoyant, smooth-riding and loose-feeling in powder and crud, but camber underfoot for a bit of grip when you need it. Goode builds its wider skis with progressively softer flexes for improved powder performance. A carbon-fiber torsion-box construction should give it plenty of snap.
