Head I.Peak 88 FLR SW (2006)

Used in this and the i.Peak 82, Head’s answer to rocker for its all-mountain-freeride line is Flowride, in which a portion of the core near the tip is milled more thinly and augmented with two rubbery inserts. It’s designed to allow the full edge contact of traditional camber but to flex upward and plane over powder and crud. Whether Flowride is responsible or not, the ski had positive edge grip and enough softness for great bump and tree performance. On groomed snow, it’s a mellow, comforting cruiser that suits intermediates and laid-back experts.
