The new Pettitor, part of K2Õs Factory Team series of athlete-inspired, youth-driven twintips, is the first pro model for K2 star Sean Pettit. ItÕs a big-mountain powder specialists, and K2 says its stiffer than any other ski in its line Òfor high-speed stability and soaring into stomped landings off oversized cliff bands.Ó ItÕs a metal-free wood-core (fir/aspen) construction. K2Õs TwinTech sidewalls are beveled inward at the top to protect them from damage caused by the other skiÕs edge. With its Bi-Directional Taper shape, the tip is only slightly wider than the tail, so its effective sidecut radius isnÕt drastically different going backward than it is going forward. K2Õs Powder Rocker combines 50 percent traditional camber (underfoot) with 50 percent pronounced rocker (tip and tail) for ultimate deep-powder surfiness and just enough hard-snow carvability to get you back to the lift. The tip is tapered so itÕs loose and smeary in deep snow, with reduced swing weight. Tip and tail hardware is removable, and the holes readily accept trim-to-fit K2 skins for touring. As with all Factory Team skis, the edges are extra thick (3.5 mm) for enhanced durability, and the base graphic is as cool as the topsheet.
