Nevermind that his run was one of the fastest. Or that he skied on the edge of control. Or that he threw a monster backflip on the final kicker. Bilodeau's defining moment came in his post-run interview. Bilodeau told NBC that his brother Frederic, who has cerebral palsy, is his inspiration. Then he thanked the volunteers. This kid is all class, all the time. Not bad for a 22-year-old who could have just easily told NBC to eat it. Though even if he wanted to, he would have had a hard time: His girlfriend ambushed him and gave him the tonsil-tasting of a lifetime, on camera. Nice.
Alexandre Bilodeau becomes the first Canadian athlete to ever win gold on home soil.
