Last night Red Rocks Amphitheatre went insane as 9,000 people danced to the sounds of Common and Atmosphere at Icelantic’s Winter on the Rocks. And despite freezing temps and intermittent snowfall, the weather didn’t seem to phase anyone at the sold out Colorado venue, rather, it seemed to add to the party as the strobe lights reflected off the steam rising from the thousands of bodies in the crowd and the day glow of ski jackets. Common played tracks from his latest release, “The Dreamer and The Believer” along with some old favorites. I almost forgot how many great songs Common has written over the years. When Atmosphere took the stage, the place went bananas and Slug made sure to direct a few jabs at Colorado ski and snowboard lingo. The energy was high, the concert was excellent, and after talking with the folks at Icelantic this morning, sounds like they are already planning for next year’s Winter on the Rocks. You won’t want to miss it.
The first ever winter concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre went down last night. It was epic.
