Get Over the Lip

STEP 1: STAY LOW AND LOOK AHEAD
As you cross the bottom of the pipe, keep your weight low with equal pressure on both skis. This stance will help you stay balanced as you transition to the wall.

STEP 2: ANGLE DOWN THE PIPE
To maintain your speed, and to maximize the amount of height you get over the lip, direct yourself at a slight angle down the pipe. This will keep you moving with the fall line.

STEP 3: POP WITH THE WALL
Once you near the top of the wall, you need to pop, not against the wall but with it. (This is a hard concept to grasp since you're perpendicular to your skis, but popping is essentially jumping up out of your stance and getting over the lip.) Popping too much will send you to the bottom of the pipe, and not popping will send you up to the deck.

STEP 4: TAKE THE RIGHT TRACK
The angle at which you position yourself up the pipe will determine the trajectory you'll be traveling through the air. If you got it right, you won't need to turn your body much at all. If you do need to muscle your turn a bit, look where you want to land, and your body will follow.

STEP 5: ABSORB THE TRANNY
Just before you land, extend your legs to absorb the transition on the way down. When you're ready to carry more speed, land in a slight crouch so you can pump the tranny instead of absorbing it. Now look for the next wall.
