After an invigorating day on the slopes, a libation at a favorite ski-town bar is a great way to recap the day with old friends and to make new ones. In the East, there's a ski bar to suit every taste, from dignified bistros to sizzlin' hot pick-up spots that rock on until nearly dawn. Here are a few of our tried-and-true favorites.

Bar: BLARNEY ROOM
Location: Brodie, Massachusetts
Why We Like It: It's been called "a bar with a ski area attached." From sumo wrestling to good ol' St. Patty's Day fisticuffs, this place rocks.

Bar: THIRSTY EAGLE
Location: Gray Rocks, Quebec
Why We Like It: A great gathering place for rowdy ski weekers and ski clubbers since the '50s.

Bar: MAIN BAR
Location: Hunter, New York
Why We Like It: A relaxing classic with a sense of ski history. The only bar in the East we know of that has a skiers' Hall of Fame.

Bar: WOBBLY BARN
Location: Killington, Vermont
Why We Like It: One of Killington's first bars (c. 1963), renowned for turning partying into an adventure. Should be on the National Historic Register.

Bar: THE COTTAGE
Location: Lake Placid, New York
Why We Like It: Unsurpassed lake view and a casual yet dignified ambiance.

Bar: LAKE PLACID PUB AND BREWERY
Location: Lake Placid, New York
Why We Like It: A top-quality brew pub upstairs, the legendary P.J. O'Neil's bar downstairs.

Bar: LE CHOUENNEUX
Location: Le Massif, Quebec
Why We Like It: Serves high-octane Canadian brew in pails.

Bar: THE HERMITAGE
Location: Mount Snow Valley, Vermont
Why We Like It: Owner Jim McGovern is the dean of Eastern bartenders. He insists you have a good time. With a 35,000-bottle wine cellar, it's hard not to.

Bar: LE P'TIT CARIBOU
Location: Tremblant, Quebec
Why We Like It: Lustarama and standing room only. Dancing atop the bar is encouraged.

Bar: THE SHED
Location: Stowe, Vermont
Why We Like It: Best microbrew in the area.
