Like all good reality tv veterans, The Bachelorette champ Ryan Sutter is parlaying his 15 minutes into a lifetime of B-list celebrity freebies. The snowboarding firefighter from Vail and his fiancée Trista Rehn, the former Miami Heat cheerleader whose hand he won on the show's finale, were recently named unofficial ski ambassadors for Vail Resorts. It's an unpaid gig, but one that requires little heavy lifting. "All we basically have to do is say nice things about Vail when they ask us, explains Sutter, "which we already do anyway. In exchange for that, as well as for making appearances at a number of resort-sponsored events (last June it was the Beaver Creek Pastry Championships), the couple gets free hotel rooms and lift tickets at Vail. (The two are currently deciding where they'll reside full time, Vail or Los Angeles.)Still, no matter how much goodwill Sutter is able to spread around his former hometown, don't expect Vail's citizenry to roll out the red carpet for Rehn. "Ryan can come here, but I don't want to see her in town, says Carla Eldridge, a coat-check girl at Vail hot spot FuBar, voicing what has become a common sentiment among local women since Rehn picked Sutter last winter. "She's ditzy. Territory conflicts, inflamed rhetoric—all in a day's work for a pair of rookie ski ambassadors.—David O. Williams
