PARK CITY, Utah - World Cup ski champion Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) and World Championships snowboard medalist Hannah Teter (Belmont, VT) are among the candidates for this year's ESPY Awards, to be announced July 17 on ESPN. Miller is nominated in the Best Male Athlete category while Teter is one of the candidates in the Best Female Action Sports Athlete category.

Miller, 27, not only was the first American since 1983 to win the overall World Cup championship last winter, but he won two gold medals at the World Championships in Bormio, Italy. He also was the first skier to win the first three races of any World Cup season; he eventually won seven races, including one in all four disciplines (slalom, giant slalom, super G and downhill) within 15 days, and became only the second man in history to win in all four disciplines in the same season.

He is up against cyclist Lance Armstrong, who has won the last two years and won his record sixth straight Tour de France in 2004; quarterback Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts, golfer Vijay Singh and Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps.

Halfpipe star Teter, bronze medalist at the 2005 Worlds plus the 2004 Chevrolet U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix champion and X Games halfpipe gold medalist, is up against ski cross star Karin huttary, fellow snowboarder Janna Meyen and Peruvian surfing champ Sofia Mulanovich.
